The Greene County Sheriff’s Office works with Telmate to launch a Video Visitation Service

Jim Arnott, who is the sheriff of Greene County, recently revealed that his office would be working the Telmate to start a new inmate video visitation product. Telmate is one of the leading companies that offer inmate communication services. Video visitation makes it easy for families and friends to connect with their loved ones who are in jail. It also assists in increasing efficiency in operations and also getting rid of security matters that are related to inmate transport. Telmates offers installation and maintenance services for the state-of-the-art visitation product at correctional facilities and taxpayers.

According to Jim Arnott, the video visits have had a positive impact at the corrections facilities. Inmates across the county are currently able to manage their visits, and they also have easy access to a variety of the communication tools. The prison’s staff members will have sufficient time conduct different crucial activities at the facility since they will not have to spend a lot of time of scheduling and transferring inmates. The video visits that are offered by Telmate are basically video phone calls just like Skype and FaceTime. The prisoners will be using the service through a Telmate Tablet that will be installed on a charging station that is located within their housing zone while their families and friends can use their smartphones and personal computers. There is also a lobby video visitation station that is located at the facility.

The video visitation program can provide different types of the benefits to the inmates, families, and friends. According to studies, inmates who regularly communicate with their loved ones who are in the outside world are likely to refrain from being involved in criminal activities that can prevent their early release. A report that was offered by the Federal Bureau of Prisons indicates that inmates who are strongly connected to their families mitigate the risk of recidivism. The loved ones of the prisoners live far from the correctional facilities, and therefore, having physical visits can be somehow inconvenient and expensive. Telmate’s remote video visits allow families and friends to contact the inmates from their homes.

Ian Dunnington, who is Telmate’s National Sales Director, said that the company is excited to join efforts with Greene County Sheriff’s Office in launching the new video visitation product. The Greene County Justice Center has now become one of the facilities that use innovative technologies in ensuring that the inmates are connected with the outside world. Mr. Dunington believes that the service will enable the facility to operate safely and efficiently. The Greene County Sheriff’s Office offers services such as Criminal Investigations Division, Administrative Services Division, Civil Process Division, Warrants and Records Division, and it has a penitentiary that holds about six hundred inmates.
